How does your media product represent particular

social groups?

Representation

In movies and even television, characters are represented and they're identified by seven areas of classification. These seven areas are:

  •   Gender
  • Age
  • Sexuality
  • Regional Identity
  • Ability/Disability
  • Class and Status
  • Ethnicity

High School

In high school dramas, the social groups that are usually represented are the popular kids and the unpopular kids.

The popular kids are people like bullies, jocks and girls who act like they're princesses. The unpopular kids are the ones like geeks, nerds or the underdogs of the plot.

Youth Drama

In a youth drama, one social groups are the ones that have a bad influence. For example, people in movies who are gang leaders or drug dealers. Another social group are the characters who have a problem and these are usually our ma

My teen drama title sequence

In my teen drama title sequence, we represented two social groups. The first group we represented was the main characters social group. His social groups was the teenagers that are alone and weak, basically victims. The other social group are the people who laugh at the other social groups, the bullies or people who are mean.

How we represented the groups

For the main characters' social group, we represented it by having him sit alone in the classroom and him being by himself when he goes to the park.

 

For the social group of the mean girls, we represented them by having them all grouped together and laughing at the main character.
