EVALUATION QUESTION 3:

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Production Company:

For our production company we decided to create our own company and ident called Horizon Productions. We wanted our production company to be a smaller and independent company. Our company is similar to 'Big talk productions' as they are a British television company which is also small and independent but has a professional touch. They are very suitable for producing our film as they have produced other small independent films, Some examples of very popular British films they have produced are: World's End, Attack the Block, Shaun of the Dead, Scott pilgrim vs, the World and Man up. They seem to produce comedy genre films but that also have a action/thriller side to them and majority seem to star the actor Simon Pegg, who is also a producer. What I mostly like about this production company is that they keep the British cult ere flowing threw their movies which makes it seem very independent.

Distribution Company:

For our distribution company my group decided we would use candi media distributions, it is a small independent distribution company that specialises in distributing small independent films. A Similar distribution company would be, Studio Canal, it is a french based production and distribution company, by being a french based company we will get audiences from the EU rather than just the UK, which could mean we would gain a larger and wider audience group as we would be gaining audiences from outside our target audience. The company also owns the third largest film library in the world and has produced/distributed a large variety of films. Thus meaning our thriller/crime and mystery genre would be something they would absolutely distribute.

Future Releases:

The movie will first be released by our distributor as a restricted local release.

It will shown to the locals and premier at the local art house cinema, 'Screen on the Green', for feedback and initial responses on the 1st of February 2016.

After this the film will be distributed digitally online via Vimeo, an online platform for amateur film makers to watch, as they are regular Vimeo users and use digital platforms to consume films. This will be an easier and more effective way of reaching our target audience.

Lastly, the film will have a future DVD release for our wider target audience to view. These could be should on online platforms such as, Amazon or HMV and will also be sold in local and larger retail store. They will also be able to be viewed on other branded digital platforms, such as, Netflix, this is so there can be regular viewing if wanted and for a more portable viewing.
