A metaphor is when we refer to something by mentioning another thing.

Be careful not to turn your metaphor into a simile.

Usually: similes use "like" or "as".

They stirred up the hornet's nest by mentioning

lay offs at the factory.

Angry like a hornet!

by using more innocent sounding words.

Even euphemism have different weight and

usefulness depending on who you are talking to.

You might not want to use "shit Frisbees"

when speaking with your grand mother.
