I feel that the song portrays a very animalistic and impulsive nature behind Ellie in which she tries to fight with lines like "It spreads like fire, seeking air". There is a sense of awakening and torturous thought as she repeats lines over and over and the words are kept simplistic with little variation. Using similes such as "like fire" and metaphors like "hera my thunder" implies danger and lack of control. Throughout, 'you' is used as a term of reference which I infer is a love interest and the song is meant as a tortured, desperate confession of dedication to them.
