In what ways does your media product use , develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

What are forms and conventions ?

Forms and conventions are general aspects of films which can either be used developed or challenged. To use a film means to copy something exactly E.G the style of font used in an opening. To develop something means to use it but add your own tweaks E.G using the same order of titles yet in a different font. To Challenge something is to go the complete opposite way to something for example , Using rock music instead of classical music. In the next few slides i will discuss what we USED , DEVELOPED and CHALLENGED.

What we 'used'.

One thing we used was the same the order of the title sequence as the film high school musical. we done this as the film is a very successful one and thier techniques now represent that genre as well as look good on screen.

Something we 'Developed'.

One thing we developed was the font of the titles in the sequence, We done this as we felt it suited the film more to have the more curved font, also it adds our own twist onto something we originally copied.

Something we 'challenged'.

One Thing we challenged was the music of the title sequence , in high school musical a slow track is played to suggest a slower tone and a slightly more relaxed vibe, however we used a more up beat track, changing in sections to create a feel for both of the characters.

THE PURPOSE OF TITLE SEQUENCES.

Title sequences are used to introduce the film and the main characters, Also its to familiarise the viewers with the plot and the general vibe of the film they're about to watch.

Stylised - Heavy use of editing and effects                      Eg Skyfall.

Narrative - Words on top of screen , a generally                         quicker way to introduce the film.

Discreet - This way 'stands alone' and usually              doesn't introduce the characters directly.

OUR FILM TITLE SEQUENCE

For our title sequence we used a Narative Technique. We had the writing over/on top of the ongoing scenes, This way the viewer is quickly introduced to the plot , the characters as well as the general feel of the film and what will happen. Also we used techniques from the film high school musical Which already has the school vibe which we can see already works.
