Question 4

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

There were a lot of things which I have learned during the process of the two products (music video and ancillary) which I had to make and develop. During this process I had been following up peoples views and opinions on my work in order to make my coursework the best that it can possibly be. This feedback  has helped me to develop my work . In this presentation I will be displaying what I have learned during the three stages of production which is the Rough cut, final music video, Ancillary Rough cut and lastly final ancillary product

What is target audience?

Target audience is a particular group at which a product such as a film or advertisement is aimed at. So in this product our target audience is based on males who like rap music. They generally are teenagers ranging from 15-19. our secondary target audience is for people who have lost family. e.g. brother, mother father etc.

How did you find your target audience?

In order to find out my target audience, I had to research similar rap artists such as Krept and Konan, Yungen, Chipmunk etc. I researched this by Asking people and also doing web research. Through the research I found out that Krept and Konan who are our main inspirers have a target audience of 16-19

Rough Cut

Throughout the rough cut, there were a list of improvements I needed to make though editing (final cut pro) and camera work. Here is the list I generated after my class watched the rough cut. Here is the feedback they gave.

In terms of camerawork, this was our biggest issue. We had shots filmed in the day as scheduled. However due to timing and weather, the day got darker unexpectedly which lead to the shots not matching. I decided that this lacks continuity and it is also meaningless. This lead to our music video cutting from daytime to night time without meaning. In the rough cut the audience realised this. Therefore we had to change it.  This taught me that we have to follow continuity throughout our music video. This then allows the music video to flow better.  Another improvement which I resolved was where we demonstrated a seamless transition however we went from Brix; to the wall then back to Brix. I realised that this was unnecessary  and a waste of an transition . Instead I done a transition from the ending of the chorus where Ari is singing to Bobby

This looked much more effective. This feedback taught me that there has to be meaning in every transition which we portrayed throughout the music video. Furthermore in addition there were a few bits which weren't lip synced. From the audience feedback this allowed me to learn that lip sync is very noticeable if its off, therefore you have to use the marker correctly in order for the music video to look ideal.

Final Music Video

We managed to fix the changes from the rough cut. This allowed my final piece to be much stronger. These are some points which we received from the audience

  • We met the target audience which were teenagers
  • We included smooth transitions
  • Good editing/editing to the beat created stern effect on piece
  • Quality was good. Good performances from all artists and representation of the artists showed well (No2) (No3)
  • Good and clear narrative understandable and clear for the audience
  • Good choice of location e.g. Suicide bridge amplified meaning to the lyrics. (No1)
  •

Final Music Video

The final video feedback was more praise as we fixed up the rough cut to the best of our abilities in order to make it the best as possible. We met the target which we set out to meet through the music video. For example we met the right target audience '15 upwards' (video 2). We also got a good response in the cinema before and after the music video. Thankful this paid off as we only got mainly positive feedback however there is still a lot in which I learned through the audiences feedback. One thing I learned about the music video was that through the feedback, I wnded up doing the correct improvements. Another thing which I learned is the importance of feedback. Feedback is key due to the fact that it enables you to improve and change your work in order to make it the best it can possibly be.

Ancillary products

  • Simplicity is effective
  •  Simple and appealing Colour scheme
  • Picture position and effect on advert is good
  • Products look realistic

I generated some general feedback about my final ancillary product. Through this I learned that drafting all pieces of the ancillary is key in order to get the best product. I also learned the  importance of copyright. Lastly I also learned from the audience feedback that exploring different effects is key. Playing around with different tools allow the piece.

Why is audience feedback key?

There are some reasons as to why audience feedback is key. One reason why audience feedback from the start to the end is key is because it generates improvements and allows audiences to judge the product. This allows room for improvement for the products which also creates what people want due to the fact that the target audience giving the feedback are the consumers.
