Carol Vernallis

Information she observed
She noticed that misc videos used 'base tracks'. Abase track is one shot filmed for the duration of the song. this all woes the editor to cut back to different scenes and repeat them throughout the video. This can be used to give the video structure and allows editing to be cut to the beat easily.

Carol Vernallis noticed the use of ‘continuity editing’ in movies which means seamless editing. This gives the impression that you are viewing the events of real life rather than watching a movie on a screen. The edits done in movies are not supposed to be noticed.

In music videos this is not the case, a lot of the time the editing done is obvious and eye catching. It does not matter if the viewer notices the editing done to the video as it makes for a more interesting watch.
Examples: Wilkinson- Dirty Love
In this video the editing is very clear and fast. The special effects are what make it visually simulating. In this video the editing is precisely to the beat. It shows a lot of jump cuts and slow motion.
