Cite features that can be used as evidence to distinguish among the 3 types of rocks relate these features to the process that forms each rock type.

Students will use scientific skills and processes to explain the chemical and physical interactions. (Natural forces and cycles, transfer of energy)  of the environment, Earth, and the universe that occur over time.

Rock: the solid mineral  material forming  part of the surface of the earth and the other similar planets, exposed on the surface or underlying the soils and oceans.
Rock Cycle: an idealized cycle of processes  undergone  by  rocks in the earths  crust,  involving  igneous  intrusion , uplift , erosion, transportation,  deposition as sedimentary rock,  metamorphism,  remelting, and further igneous intrusion.
