Movement began in Jamaica in 1930s & the prophecy by Marcus Garvey: "Look to Africa where a black king shall be crowned, he shall be your Redeemer".  Just because Haile Selassie I became a king in Ethiopia, people made him to be their Massiah.

Europeans were colonizing African countries.  They were taking Africans as captives & slaves to different parts of the world & the word 'Babylon' emerged as oppression or those who oppressed them.  They were stripped from their cultures & beliefs as they believed that they will all go back to Ethiopia.

Haile Selassi the Emporer of Ethiopia visits Jamaica in November 1966.  Rita Marley converts to Rastafarianism & changes her name to Ganette Mander ('paradise').  Bob Marley gets busy working with Johnny Nash & becomes the top charts of UK in 1972.

1968:-  Bob explores Rastafarianism & he embraces it in his music.  He popularized the Rastafarian Movement & made his voice clear.  People would not have known Rastafarians if it wasn't for Marley.
