My Chosen Distributor

Bauer Media Group

I have selected Bauer Media Group as my chosen publisher due to the fact this institution publishes extremely popular music magazines such as Q Magazine. Bauer also has access to TV Stations and Radio Stations so this could broaden my audience and draw in more readers. As Q Magazine is partly my style model, its audience is older and its less genre-specific than mine. Bauer, being such a a successful company, will already have the commercial infrastructure in place to widely distribute my magazine.

How My Magazine Benefits Bauer

My magazine will benefit this distributor as it will increase profits made for the company, as well as increasing the audiences which buy products produced by Bauer. I think my magazine would be very popular with a large scale of ages which will result in a large sale of my magazine. As my magazine will sell to a large audience, Bauer will make a high sum of profit which is why my product will provide benefits for the company. As nearly all music magazine audiences are largely male-dominated, my magazine could increase female readership and, therefore, bring profit from that particular niche market of music magazines.  My magazine is a monthly magazine, and Bauer have Kerrang,  but that's a weekly or bi-weekly magazine with a largely male audience so because of its different approach to the genre and the audience, my magazine would increase the company's overall profits.

How Bauer Will Benefit My Magazine

Bauer will benefit my magazine due to the fact it is a big distributing company which means I will be able to produce mass amounts of my product in order to sell to a large audience. In addition to this, Bauer distributes Q Magazine, which is similar to my magazine, meaning my product will be recognised and may gain more attention from audiences. Bauer has a well developed info-structure and reputation which means it will be able to give me high profit distribution through an established professional and efficient distribution network.

What Existing Products Am I Competing With?

My main competitor is Rocksound due to the similarities in content within my magazine. In addition to this, both our magazines have similar target audiences. As well as Rocksound, products such as Kerrang and  NME as these magazines all contain similar content to my product as we all share the same genre. I feel my magazine will be successful in the market as it appeals to all ages.
