HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE COMBINATION OF YOUR MAIN PRODUCT AND ANCILLARY TASKS?
CD DIGIPAK
The design of a CD Digpak is really important to promote an artist. If the design was just plain then the target audience's attention would not be grabbed. The colours used within my design include black and white panels as well as panels with mainly blues and reds. This means the whole thing looks well put together and thought out. I have used the font eurostile which is a crisp, clean style which gives an electric vibe.
MUSIC MAGAZINE ADVERTISEMENT
I created my music magazine advertisement after my CD digipak and knew when planning the design I wanted there to be a clear link so the audience would associate the two together. The colour scheme in this tasks was much more neutral and only includes black, white and grey. I felt this was effective as it allowed the whole piece to look like one image which actually contains several different parts.
SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES
There are many similarities between my two ancillary tasks. The same photographs are used in both which creates a direct association. Also the font is kept consistent throughout all promotional features. Another technique I have used that is similar is the change of colour in typical features of these promotions, such as the barcode in the CD digipak and the social networking logos on the music magazine advertisement.
There are also some differences between my CD digipak and music magazine advertisement design. First of all the colour schemes differ. The CD digipak includes a fair bit of colour where as there is absolutely no colour featured within the music magazine advertisement. However as the CD digipak does include some black and white panels I feel this difference doesn't affect the link between the two tasks.
MUSIC VIDEO
My music video was to the song Disclosure // You & Me ft. Eliza Doolittle, which is an upbeat, face paced song which meant I needed a lot of footage. Therefore I have a variety of locations and aspects to my music video. This ranges from the street to the festival.
THE WHOLE PROMOTIONAL PACKAGE
Overall the combination of my main task and my ancillary tasks is fairly effective. The photography used in the CD digipak and music magazine advertisement is actually took directly from the music so automatically there is a clear association for our target audience. Also the characters are featured in all three promotional features so the recognisable faces are reassuring.
