The Audience of a Teen Drama Film
Question 4;
Who were teen drama films originally made for?
Originally, teen drama films were created for teens of around 15 upwards. These films were created to entertain, teach and entice young people hence the reason the characters portrayed were teenagers
I knew that to attract our target audience group to our film, I would have to use the conventions of a normal teen drama.
illegal substances
interpersonal conflict with peers
The Misfit/The Outcast
Who watches them now?
Now teen drama films have a much broader audience range. This includes young adult from 19 - 25 and possibly adults from the older generations.
This is simply because, they could be comparing their generation to ours.
In Relation to my film?
Because there was a chance that I could attract an even broader audience, I made sure to expand my target audience and tried to appeal to young adults also. I did this by having the story line more mature.
My Sub Genre
My Sub Genre is 'Teen Drama'
- The audience I have tried to attract are mainly Londoners
- That may have similar lives - Urban Kids
They are still the same age as the target audience for a normal teen drama however we have made it broader to appeal to over 18's
here are examples of teen drama's that appeal to an older age also
