POP
By Charlie-Mae Taylor
Pop stands for popular music, music that people enjoy

Pop can often borrow certain styles from other genres such as Urban, Dance, Rock, Latin and Country
Subgenres- Art Pop, Bubblegum, Christian Pop, Dance-Pop, Electropop and Teen Pop
The phrase 'pop song' was first established in 1926 when it was thought that a song would be popular
Pop music is considered mainstream. People know what they like because they like what they know
Lyrics seem to be focused on typical ideas such as love.
There are various expectations but love is the most common
Examples of this include

Justin Bieber- Love Yourself
Beyoncé- Crazy in Love
Taylor Swift- Wildest Dreams
Eminem and Rihanna- Love the way you lie
Whitney Houston- I will always love you
Selena Gomez- Good For You
Mature Pop
Mature pop is the type of music that people from the ages 14+ are more likely to listen to and fully understand. An example of the difference between younger pop and mature pop is Justin Bieber. His first album consisted of cute and repetitive love songs (Baby). Bieber's most recent album is more about growing up and loving someone and about all the problems he has faced.
