# Group blocks to move them together

[Canonical article](https://slides.com/docs/grouping-content-blocks)

Group content blocks to move, resize, and animate them together. Grouping keeps related content, such as an icon and its caption, in place as you rearrange a slide.

If you are new to selecting and configuring content, start with [Working with blocks](/docs/working-with-blocks).

## Group and ungroup blocks

Select the blocks and press <kbd>⌘ G</kbd> on macOS or <kbd>Ctrl G</kbd> on Windows. You can also right-click a selected block and choose **Group**. To ungroup, press <kbd>⌘ ⇧ G</kbd> on macOS or <kbd>Ctrl ⇧ G</kbd> on Windows.

Double-click a group to open it and edit the blocks inside. While a group is open, you can select and group some of its blocks to create a nested group.

## Tips

- Hold <kbd>⌘</kbd> on macOS or <kbd>Ctrl</kbd> on Windows and select a grouped block to select it without opening the group first.
- To add a block to an existing group, cut the block, open the group, and paste it.
