Improving upon my Trailer after Feedback

The first thing I thought would be useful and simple to improve upon would be heightening the intensity through the use of sound effects further. The quickest way I did this was by simply raising the sound on a few of the clips such as the one of Bea walking on stones. In addition to this, we filmed various more shots including one of Georgia screaming loudly which is suddenly contrasted by the quiet and eerie footsteps. Here is a before and after:

We built upon this section further by including a voice over on top saying the enigmatic phrase "and this is only the beginning". This helps to build the eeriness that follows the loud and overwhelming atmosphere before. I also recorded using my iPhone a breathing sound effect that gradually increased in speed to create an 'on-edge ' feel to the trailer.

I improved upon my use of sound in the trailer as a direct result of the audience feedback I had received. This shows I was effectively able to use the criticism I had received and learn from it to improve the overall quality of the trailer.

A specific moment that was pointed out to me during the audience feedback was the carrot chopping shot which is the signal for the disruption within the trailer. This is such an important shot for that reason and so I really wanted it to have a dramatic and intense effect however from the feedback, many people suggested it should be re-filmed as "the knife is too far away from the lens that you can't really see it cutting the carrot properly". So we listened to our audience feedback and re-filmed to shot. Here is the before and after.

I definitely think the final shot was a more intense and definitive way of signalling the disruption as the head on perspective from the positioning of the camera in relation to the knife has a much more extreme effect. This again is an example of what I learned from my audience feedback.
