Evaluation Question 6

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

From this process, I have learned so many new skills that have helped me excel in my understanding and knowledge of Media Studies. The different software, hardware and online tools in which I have used, have all broadened my comprehension and allowed me to get the best possible results for my coursework and my film. Each skill which I have learned along this path has contributed in different ways to me, therefore meaning that in effect I could combine some of these things together in order to have the highest possible level of success. Over these next few slides, I will present what I have learned over my experience of creating the opening scene to my film and how each one has been useful to me and helped me.

Blogger

Blogger was one of the first things that I was introduced to and shown how to use. Throughout this whole process, Blogger has actually been one of the most important factors to help me towards success. It has allowed me to upload blogs, to present my work and write about them if needs be. I was also able to complete my work on a variety of Web 2.0 Tools and Blogger allowed me to embed each of these onto my blog so that each different blog was presented more interestingly  each time.

Web 2.0 Tools

These tools helped me present my work and made it look a lot more interesting and fun to watch than just writing on a blog. Some of my favourite Web 2.0 Tools consisted of Prezi, Emaze and GoConqr as they were extremely easy to use and allowed me to put as much work on there as I wanted. I liked the way that I could upload Giphys and pictures in order to make my work more entertaining, especially the fact that the Giphys moved so therefore brought more life to my presentations. In terms of embedding them onto my Blogger account I had no problems and was able to do this with great ease.

YouTube

YouTube was a great site for me to use and proved to be very helpful throughout the whole of this process. I found YouTube most helpful when I had to watch trailers of films so that I could do textual analysis on them, and also when I had to upload vlogs. YouTube is a very easy website to use and shows many results for what I was looking for over the course of this period which I have completed work about various different films. My group decided to get our Royalty Free music soundtrack for the non-diegetic noise in the opening scene to our film from YouTube, and when choosing which one we wanted we had a lot of variety.

Apple Mac

From having previous experience with Apple Mac computers, having used them before in Media Studies I had an understanding as to the basics and how they work. Apple Mac computers are very fast and efficient for getting work done quickly and have a lot of advantages in terms of programmes you are able to download compared to standard computers. Me and my group also decided to edit our film on an Apple Mac and use Final Cut Pro which was a really useful programme.

Final Cut Pro

Final Cut Pro proved to be amazing for editing! It enabled us to edit each scene and put different transitions in between them in order to make our film run a lot smoother. Also, we were able to put different effects over the top alongside with credits titles to make our film look more realistic. Final Cut Pro was easy to use and offered huge amounts of edits, effects and more, which my group took full advantage of when editing our film in order to get the best possible results. Final Cut Pro also allowed us to use a soundtrack which we found on YouTube and put that over the top of the opening scene to our film to make it more thrilling and add a lot more effect.
