How does is engage with the audience?

Plot:

The plot of Evocative is pretty unrealistic to the common person however the loss of a loved one is experienced often these days, whether through death or emotional break up. The sequence explores this representation through the use of nightmares and flashbacks that engages with the audience that thinks back to the old times as being great and memorable due to either certain people or certain events. The use of the double life of Natalie (Her professional secret agent life and emotional personal life with her partner) represents that how even in real life, people can cross complicated professional problems (school, work, etc) with their personal life instead of keeping the two separate, from which the audience can relate to.

Audio:

The audio at the beginning of the sequence, engages with the audience because the backing track sounds like there’s some voices creating the mood and feel for the scene and it being something with an eerie presence. The fact that only non-diegetic sound is present here show that most senses such as regular hearing is distorted and blocked in the dream world. The recurring track later on in the sequence shows how her life and this mission seems like just any other day. 

Camera shots:

In the nightmare the way the camera angles are filmed almost makes it look as if the viewer is the unseen antagonist. This makes the audience feel as if they have some form of connection and part of the film.
