Question 3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

PUBLISHER

Previously, my publisher was Conde Nast however I changed it to Bauer due to Bauer being a better option in terms of publishing and distributing widely as well as the company having experience with publishing music magazines. Although the magazines they have published have been from the rock genre such as Q and Kerrang, I think by having my magazine on their roster, it would be a change and new field for them to explore via their publishing.

There are some similarities in the magazine's though, such as with Q there are similarities in terms of the content that my magazine and Q would produce and write about such as album reviews and 'Top tracks of the month', so Bauer would have some experience with the content as well, even if they are from different genres.

Also, Bauer have brands on their roster that target millennials which is a section of my target audience as well, so they will be able to actively advertise my magazine to my target audience and make it better known.

Bauer's Audience

This was taken directly from Bauer's website, which talks about a section of their audience. This particular section fits right into my target audience as it includes HU$TLE's age range.

I chose to have a big publisher as it will allow my magazine to be available and advertised on platforms other than just print, like the digital platform where it could be advertised on social and mobile mediums via an app, social media websites and an official website. These options allow me to have; a website for my magazine with articles from the magazine as well as other new content to keep the audience interested on the magazine, and then an e-zine version.

By having my magazine available on multiple online platforms it will help increase how widely it is viewed since a larger percentage of my target audience prefer to read and interact with products online as opposed to in print as this is very much a digital generation, so online platforms would gain their interest more. It would also give my magazine a wider online social following which is very important, for marketing and fits with my publisher as Bauer Media Group is very social based.  

DISTRIBUTION

Different Distribution Methods

Through Bauer I will use a distribution network which allows my magazine to be sold in a majority of big newsagents and shops such as WHSmith so that it can be seen and can reach a wider audience. It will also be distributed to smaller newsagents so that my full target audience can access it. This was mainly be done through the sale and return method.

A subscription option would also be available with my magazine with the offer being - £18 for 6 issues.

Like mentioned before, there would be an e-zine option on the website and app which can be downloaded onto your phone, IPad or tablet and laptop or computer.

Lastly, it would be distributed online through the electronic brand extension method as my magazine has accounts on Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Soundcloud and Spotify
