My Pitch

Genre

I have chosen the thriller genre as I find these films the most interesting. Not only are the conventions the most fun to create and portray, but as an audience member, thriller's both keep you on the edge of your seat and stimulate your mind.

Target Audience

I believe that the primary target audience of this idea would be teenagers and young adults. The main characters involved in my idea are teenagers/young adults themselves and this would attract an audience of the same age group as the characters are relatable. This will thus make the film more successfully terrifying.

Gender: All // Age: 12-18 // Interests: Social Media, Film and Music, Current Trends

The secondary audience would most likely be of an older generation, who have a particular interest for thriller films. Stereotypically, the thriller genre is more appealing to males, as it is seen as a positive, brave/masculine trait. Often, males may use a thriller film as an opportunity for a date, to show off their "valour" and comfort their partner.

What can I bring to the project?

Though I haven't studied media before, I believe I can bring some experience to the group. I enjoy photography, and I have uploaded to YouTube in the past. I have a small amount of knowledge therefore in framing shots and video editing.

My idea for our film opening is set in an asylum. Beginning in the present day (shown by clothing and dialogue), a small group of teenagers go exploring. Stumbling across an abandoned asylum, the group decides to play hide and seek. As one character (the seeker of the game), counts to ten, the screen begins to flicker between the

past and present. As the teenagers hide, screams of the past torture in insane asylums haunt the present, before merging with one of the teenager's. One of the patients seems to lurk in the present, and intends on becoming part of the game, hide and seek.

The series of photos displayed are a mixture of past and present, including modern asylums, and how asylums used to be. The photographer, Lu Nan, depicts 'The Forgotten People', and the photos I've included from his work are those of patients in physchiatric wards in China, only 30 years ago.
