Course project

(MMG640 / MVE080)

Visualization of outer solar system simulation using Blender

Elements included

  • Create objects in Blender
  • Add material textures to objects in Blender
  • Understanding numpy arrays
  • Use Python script to animate objects in Blender
  • Adjust the Camera in Blender
  • Setup lighting and render still images and animations in Blender

Task (briefly, see Canvas for details):

  • Create a Blender model of the outer solar system (Sun, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto)
  • Modify a Python script for simulation of the outer solar system, adding animation keyframes for the planets
  • Create a stunning animation - the Sky is the limit!

Remember:

  • Rendering with Cycles takes a long time. Make sure that you preview your animation at specific frames before rendering the whole animation. Shift-Z is your friend to preview rendering of the ViewPort.
