Question 6- What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
Meshaiel Saleh
Technologies I have used
While making the film opening we had to use a variety of different types of technology, we used different technology for different purposes.
Technology used to make the final Product
- Final Cut Pro
- Motion
- Garageband
Technology used to promote the final Product
- Blogger
- Vimeo
- PowerPoint
- Slideshare
- Powtoon
- Emaze
- Thinglink
Final Cut Pro
Final Cut Pro is a non-linear video editing software developed by Macromedia Inc.
My group and I used final cut pro to edit our final product. Final cut pro allowed us to edit our footage, add sound that we transferred from garageband and adding transitions between clips to smooth or blend the changes from one scene to another. It was also useful for putting the title sequence in from both motion and final cut pro itself.
Garageband
GarageBand is a whole music creation studio right inside your Mac — with a complete sound library that includes software instruments, presets for guitar and voice, and virtual session drummers.
Garageband has a variety of different options for sound. However my group and I decided to use a non-copyright sound from sound cloud.
Motion
An interface designed especially for editors. Smart templates for making changes on the fly during editing. And easy-to-use motion graphics tools for creating eye-catching titles, transitions and effects. Motion is the perfect companion to Final Cut Pro.
We used motion for our title only, the rest of the credits were made on final cut from. Motion was very easy to use, it gave us a lot of option for making our title sequence original so it could appeal to our target audience.
Blogger
Throughout the journey we had blogged everything we have done during our media sessions on Blogger.
Blogger is a basic site to use it allowed me to become familiar with different types of technology such a Emaze and Prezi, this was to make the information we were publishing more interesting and eye catching. Blogger shows the improvements I have made over the course, it also shows the amount of changes we have made regarding our final product.
As our target audience was teenage girls between the ages of 13-18 we decided to create a twitter account in order to promote our film. Twitter is a very popular social media site used by a large amount of teens and young adults . Therefore this will help create a fan base for 'Between the Two'.
Hardware
The most important hardware we used was the camera. We used it for filming everything . The camera helped us with all shot types such as close ups and mid shots.
Camera
Tripod
The tripod was used to take steady shots. This helped us as we needed to take shots of both of our characters walking to college
Mac/Macbook
The apple mac computer was a big help as it was what we used to edit. It had Motion, Garageband and final cut pro downloaded already. We also had access to the MacBook laptop which made it easier for our group to blog while editing. Mac books are fast and easy .
