Teen Spirit

Return for the game, return for the community

The Problem

CF teens do not regularly complete their breathing exercise

The Solution

A community driven game that motivates them to do breathing exercises regularly and effectively

Meet Myra

  • age 14
  • has CF
  • struggles to do her breathing exercises regularly
  • likes games but not a regular player

Myra's Journey

on Teen Spirit

Myra creates a profile and chooses her avatar

She selects the types of sessions she wants; i.e., 5min, 15min, 1hr

Enter the "Banana" Room

Myra breathes into the device to calibrate

the length and force

Teen Spirit then assigns Myra to a room based on her selected session and her calibration results

Room Session
Banana 15 minutes
Strawberry 30 minutes
Papaya 1 hour

Mini Balloons

When Myra enters her room, she sees a hot air balloon filled with mini balloons colored in red, yellow or green.

Teen Spirit assigns a red mini balloon to her.

The Object of the Game

Myra has 15 minutes to turn her mini-balloon from red to yellow and then to green based on her breathing exercises.

The Secret Sauce

As Myra breathes in, pauses, and then breathes out the balloon changes slightly in colour; e.g., red to reddish.

Before the balloon moves to the next stage, the colour turns transparent. That is Myra's cue to cough.

Lift Off!

When enough mini-balloons turn green, the hot air balloon lifts off.

If enough balloons do not turn green, the hot air balloon deflates.

The Winner's Circle

Once the balloon lifts off, everyone is invited to another room, called the Winner's Circle.

Here, they can chat with each other for up to fifteen minutes before carrying on with their day.

Smells like...Teen Spirit!
