What does it even mean to label and certify services?

The Food Industry

per Gov.UK

Labelling

Food Industry Certification

Using the ℮ mark

You won’t have to meet the weights and measures rules of the European Economic Area (EEA) countries you’re exporting to if you put the ℮ mark on your packages.

False Analogy between food services and digital services

  1. Each digital service can hold its own unique blend of personal information

  2. Food does not hold personal information while it is with the retailer

Criticisms to the Reliance on the Food Industry

Let's not mix food and digital metaphors - either consciously or subconsciously.

Challenges

AI & Certification

the box on which E-Advisor sits, listens to you by default to some degree

the box can be hacked to listen continuously

AI & Digital Labelling

myth: data 'cleanliness' is the most important issue

It's a software architecture issue first and foremost

IoT: Certify & Label

GDPR:

local authority => class action whereas for startups, sensor companies, cloud provider, LPWAN => individuals can sue

hackers identify people by mashing together data streams location, sensor, etc

no more certifications!!!

digital labels make it worse

MobiCyle's Solutions

AI / E-Advisor

Certification

  • Amazon and Google determine the models for NLP and NLU
  • Tie all data to a user id.  For users to be forgotten, we delete the user id
  • Do not require certifications of software architecture!
  • Amazon and Google run E-Advisor through their certification programme and require a privacy policy

Labelling

IoT / Sensors4Bins

Physical labels/ warnings on the bin

No collection of personal data

Token and key based access control: Secure and simple way to manage access to realtime data

End-to-end encryption: TLS and 256-bit AES encryption ensures data is secure in transit and rest
