Compression

Learning Objectives

To be able to:

  • Differentiate between lossy and lossless compression
  • Explain the advantages and disadvantages of each

Lossless vs Lossy

Lossless compression is a way of saving an image, so that you are saving space on your device, but you are also keeping a sharp clarity in the image.

Lossy compression will remove parts of data to save extra space, but when you open the image again, you lose some of the sharpness.
