Inspiration and Comparisons

As I have proposed I will be taking inspiration from a music video produced in the 80's. Whilst filming and storyboarding ideas for my music video, I took into consideration the style of the existing music video.

In these shots it is evident that I have used similar profile shots and lighting. This is to bring the audience's attention to the artist. Both shots include direct eye contact between the audience and the artist, suggesting a relationship between the audience and the performer. This will enforce a connection between the audience and the performer, as the eyes act as the focal point of the body. It is as if the performer is staring directly into the audience's mind, and the audience are – into the performers.

The eye contact used in both examples gives a more dominant and powerful meaning to the music video. Both music videos are based on narratives, therefore the eye contact used may also imply that the performer is narrating the story of the music video .

Differences of the music video include the colour of the shots. I have used a white light when filming my music video. i have used a white light to give a more clinical atmosphere. The white light also gives a clean, more modern effect to my music video. I feel that using white lighitng is beneficial as it eliminates all brown tones which may appear unattractive and ugly.
