We had a good iterative design process with the team from Nanobot. They were responsive to our input on biological processes and found good solutions for the design. I am very pleased with the result."

Danegaptide uniquely treats the underlying pathology in patients with diabetic retinopathy, which is present in approximately 30% of all diabetic patients.
Danegaptide stabilizes intercellular communication and strengthens both the retina's inner and outer blood barriers, which decreases vascular leakage and protection of capillary structures and helps remove the subretinal fluid.
Oral danegaptide therapy for these clinically proven conditions has the potential to be a more effective and less burdensome oral therapy for patients with diabetic retinopathy.
3D animation to communicate about mechanism of action of the drug and the process of treating the pathology.

Details such as the cells must look presentable and realistic in the video. Therefore, after a dozen attempts of different combinations of materials, lighting, structure and due to practice in the development of microscopically stylized material, it was possible to show an understandable and visually attractive result. This part of the video shows a cross-sectional model of the retina with edema. After the action of the main drug, the space between the cells becomes tight, and water droplets leave the subretinal space and the edema decreases.
Animation in detail: vessels and cells

In the video, we see capillaries consisting of endotheliocytes and pericytes. Endothelial cells separate from each other, and erythrocytes flow out of the space between the cells. It was a very voluminous and lengthy process to describe the dynamics of erythrocytes. To achieve a visually true and beautiful result, the animation of the flight of each erythrocyte was done manually. Also, one of the important things was to show the narrowing of the vessel in proportion to the pericytes, which was achieved thanks to the use of various animation techniques.
