Reasoning for chosen artist

Nines - Yay

I have chosen Nines as the artist I would like to do as he is one of my favourite artists in the grime industry and I have been a fan since he was growing onto becoming one of UK's biggest grime rappers. I have choose the song 'Yay' as it is catchy and its not a typical grime beat song. Therefore I have thought it would be interesting to do a song like this. The tempo of this song is quite slow and peaceful which makes the song a little bit more interesting as the tempo stays the same throughout the song. The lyrics of the song also have a strong meaning which is why this song is interesting.

Yay is another word for cocaine. In this case, the song talks about how the girl become addicted to cocaine.

The song starts off with the rapper talking about how he knew the woman which didn't have a family from the time she was young and had no help.

He does not have a proper job and still drug deals.

The girl has money but she always spent it on cocaine as she was addicted.

She fails to express herself to people face-to-face but is opposite on social media.

This tasks about how she used to be quiet but now that she does cocaine, she changed into a different person. She also only deals with richer men.

The hook and chorus is then repeated after verse one. It has a repeated meaning.

The girl should be at university like other girls rather than being everywhere acting like a prostitute.

She always needs attention from all the boys therefore she can never stick to one and have a proper relationship.

From where Nines knew her since she was younger, he knows she's not what the drug dealers see her as and is actually a good person when she's not high on cocaine but he knows he cannot change her.

She has ruined her life plans at 16 when se got addicted to cocaine and now uses a sugar daddy for money to support her addiction and party life.
