The Caracas flautist Omar Acosta and the Cordoba guitarist Sergio Menem are the leaders of a project that embodies the Latin vein of the Madrid music circuit, a city that has hosted them for more than 20 years.

 

Nominated in the category of 'Best instrumental album' at the Latin Grammy Awards (2021) for their first joint work entitled 'Entretiempo y tiempo'; it is a project in a chamber duo format that brings together 11 of his own compositions as a tribute to its Latin roots and Ibero-American influences (from Venezuelan waltz and merengue, through Uruguayan samba and candombe, to Indian raga and Sevillanas).

 

As a duo they have performed successfully on stages in various countries such as Spain, Japan, Switzerland, Argentina, Chile, the United States and Portugal.

Venezuelan-Spanish flute player, composer, producer and teacher, based in Madrid since 1998. He is one of the most important exponents of avant-garde Venezuelan music. He also excels in classical music, flamenco and various styles of world music.

 

He has been part of the Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar and the Orquesta Sinfónica Venezuela; He has also been a flutist and musical director of the Ballet Nacional de España (from 2012 to 2016).

 

He has 7 CD's of his own, the most recent being "Latitud" (Silver Medal at the 2017 Global Music Awards) and "Entretiempo y tiempo", nominated for Best Instrumental Album at the Latin Grammy Awards (2021), together with composer and guitarist Sergio Menem.

 

As a composer he has written numerous works for flute, chamber groups, symphony orchestra, string and vocal works, his work "Sibarita" being awarded in the 2008 Amadeus competition for choral composition.

 

He has written numerous works for symphony orchestra, among them, the adaptation for symphony orchestra and flamenco group of the work "Suite Sevilla" by Rafael Riqueni (commissioned by the Ballet Nacional de España), and the "Concierto para Cajón Flamenco y Orquesta" (first in the world), premiered by the Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar .

Born in Córdoba, Argentina, he studied guitar at the Conservatorio provincial de Música Felix T. Garzón and composition at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba. He also studied harmony and analysis, jazz harmony, jazz guitar, and cello in Buenos Aires. He continued his studies of cello at the Carnagie Mellon University, in Pittsburgh (USA), and guitar at the Conservatori Liceu, in Barcelona (Spain), where he also joined the Orquesta de Guitarras del Liceu.

 

Living in Spain since 2002, he has worked various music and theater companies such as Els Comediants, Antonio Najarro, María Pagés, and  Ballet Nacional de España, touring the world. Likewise, he composes and records music for movies and series, such as the documentary “Tejedores”, by Federica Romeo.

 

He participates in various recordings as a guitarist, cellist, arranger or music producer: “El exilio de nosotros”, with Sandra Rehder; “Les mil i una nits”, with Els Comediants; “The new urban tango”, with Solange Freyre; “Seremos tango”, with Romina Balestrino; "Descalza", with Patricia Colaço; “Latitud”, with Omar Acosta Trío.

 

In 2020, in duet with Omar Acosta he recorded the album "Entretiempo y tiempo", a record of his own compositions that obtained a Latin Grammy nomination in the category "Best instrumental album".

Uruguayan drummer and percussionist residing in Spain since 1992. He studied in Montevideo with Sergio Faluótico and Osvaldo Fattoruso, and in Boston with Ed Uribe (prof. Berklee College of Music).

 

He has worked for the Escuela de Música Creativa (EMC) in Madrid and the Escuela de Música Level in Zaragoza; In addition, he teaches private classes and is a sought-after session musician.

 

His career includes live shows and recordings with Hugo Fattoruso, Federico Lechner, Santiago Reyes, David Defries, Ensamble Nuevo Tango, Jorge Pardo, Andy Phillips, Sheilah Cuffy, Jorge Drexler, Olga Román, Carmen París, GladstonGalliza, El Güevo Big Band, Ara Malikian, Fernando Egozcue, Afrodisian Orchestra, among others.

 

He has several albums under his name, among which are: "En Esta Esquina" (2000), "Artesano" (2005), "Triovivo" (2007), "Tres Calles" (2014), "Tr3spuntocero" (2015), “Otros Palos” (2015) and “Tocador” (2016). He leads his new South American jazz quartet with Santiago Greco, Jorge Vera and Lisandro Mansilla.

Nuria Cazorla

Born in Irún, she has dedicated a large part of her life to studying and teaching flamenco dance in her city.

 

She is the founder of the flamenco group Embrujo Andaluz (Irún), with which she has created, directed and performed numerous shows over the years (1994-2010). She has also directed numerous shows in the País Vasco.

 

She has studied flamenco dance, with established artists such as La Tati, Cristobal Reyes, José Porcel, El Güito, La Truco, Olga Pericet, among others.


She has performed as a soloist in it with the musical group La Querencia with which she has traveled to numerous Spanish and European cities.

 

She currently collaborates with the flutist Omar Acosta where she fuses dance with the different music created for flute, percussion and dance.

 

Nuria is currently the director of the dance area at the Centro Integral de Artes in Madrid.
