Evaluation Question 4

FeedBack on the Music Video

Reflecting back on the feedback given during the process of editing I feel as though it helped a lot when structuring my music video as it was made clear that the viewer didn't understand the difference between the chorus and verses. Therefore I took the feedback on-board and rearranged the sequence so that all the chorus base tracks, including pre-chorus base tracks will all be in black and white, making it more easier to spot by the viewer.

Furthermore, the additional feedback given by the viewer help emphasis the importance of editing to the beat as they noticed that my timing in my music video was slightly off. The result of the feedback was that I went over the whole music video to synchronise the base tracks with the beat. This helped in shortening shots making my overall video more effective.

Cinema Reaction

After the cinema viewing I asked two students to provide their feedback on my music video by stating what they think worked well and what didn't go so well. The first student stated that she liked the editing such as the slow motion and the reverse effect and the colour grading of the black and white in the studio shots. I believe the editing and colour grading made my music video more visually interesting making the viewer want to continue watching.

The second student also liked the colour grading of the music video, the match cuts and pointed out that I had a range of shot types. Therefore, I incorporated similar shot types into my ancillary products to create a synergy link between the two products.

Reflecting back on the audiences reaction to my music video in the cinema I'm lead to believe that they enjoyed watching the music video and it appealed to the majority of the audience both the target audience and wider audience. Therefore, I think that my music video was a successful product in demonstrating both the indie and pop music genre throughout the video.

Ancillary

After completing my ancillary products I showed my target audience and asked them to state what they think work's well and what doesn't. I also asked how effectively I've incorporated synergy into my production pieces. Both students identified the outfit, font and colour scheme to clearly linked between both my ancillary products and music video. Considering they didn't say any negatives about my production pieces I believe that I've hit the requirements off a digi-pak, advert and music video through the conventions of the genre, which I researched, and applied to my own products.

What I've learnt

Reflecting back on the overall feedback that I've received during the whole process I have learnt various skills and have altered my production pieces according to the positive and negative criticism to improve my products.

Firstly, i learnt to complete in-depth research into my chosen area of genre to obtain the knowledge about my target audience which also I had to establish first. Additionally, I had to plan according to my research into the indie pop music genre and apply the information I've gathered to my production pieces.

Secondly, I gained multiple skills during the production stage when using high tech software such as Premier Pro and Photoshop, allowing me to create professional production pieces.

Lastly, I've learnt to always ask your target audience for feedback at each stage of the process, in order to develop your production pieces further and achieve it's full potential as your target audience is essentially the ones who are going to invest their money but also time into your products, and therefore you have to incorporate their feedback to deliver.
