SURGICAL TECHNICIAN

  • As a graduate, you can apply for entry-level positions as a surgical technologist in a variety of healthcare settings including hospitals, medical centers, and public and private surgical centers.
  • After successfully passing this examination, you earn the credential of CST (Certified Surgical Technologist).
  • This program's accreditation allows you to apply to sit for the certification exam in surgical technology given by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).

  • Day, Evening & Potential Afternoon Classes Available.
  • According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2014-15 Edition, employment of registered nurses is expected to grow by 19% from 2012 - 2022. This growth is due to technological advancements, a greater number of medical problems being treated, an increased emphasis on preventative care and the increasing population of aging baby boomers.
  • Upon graduation from this program, you will be eligible to apply to sit for the National Council Licensing Exam (NCLEX-RN).
  • Coursework focuses on both general education and the introductory technical skills necessary in providing and managing patient care.

VETERINARY ASSISTING

  • Students will learn to perform a diverse variety of tasks in customer/client services and education; front desk and clerical responsibilities; preparation of exam rooms; and assisting in areas of filling scripts, setting up lab work, and assisting with nursing and animal care.
  • Students will learn to keep medical and imaging records, offer client education, assist with nursing duties, prepare for surgeries, and assist in a routine exam.
  • The program will provide students with a foundation of knowledge in ethics and law, animal anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and animal care activities.
