Assignment 12:

Innitial ideas

Reflecting on research:

From looking at a variety of artists music videos and student music videos, I have collected a few things that I would like to put into our music video.

Such as:

-Performance and Narrative aspects.

-Composition of shots, where things are placed in the video.

-Location of shots are matching the genre of music. I.e Not going to a Botanical garden for a music video associated with Grime.

Idea 1: Sia, Alive

Genre:

Electropop

How will you style the artist:

The way I would style the artist is by covering the face, like Sia and will probably only be Narrative, due to sia being in none of her recent music videos. Show a lot of different range of shots, for example, extreme close ups, high and low angle shots and behind shoulder shots.

What will happen in the video:

The video will have a clear message to show the audience, most likely a case of bullying or depression, this is to tie in with Sia's style of how to get her audience to watch the video.

How are you meeting the conventions of the genre:

Idea 2: Gorillaz, Feel good

Genre:

Alternative/ Indie

How will you style the artist:

With The Gorillaz mostly being done in cartoon, having face paint and different coloured skin with black exaggerated lines around facial features will help style the artists. Would film in places like Car parks/ Nice scenery (like in video)

What will happen in the video:

This video will be based all around performance from the band, due to it being from that genre, where they mostly focus on the band and there isn't much narrative.

How are you meeting the conventions of the genre:

Idea 3: Twenty One Pilots, Stressed out

Genre:

Alternative/Indie

How will you style the artist:

Have the colours Black and Red Prominent in the video, to have both performance and narrative. also to have ore than one person in the video to show theres a band present.

What will happen in the video:

The video will have both performance and narrative aspects to it, the performance side will be focused non adulthood, where everything has changed, become more monochrome whereas the narrative side will be based on when you're a child and the world is full of optimism, and positivity.

How are you meeting the conventions of the genre:
