OVERVIEW
Sales Materials
- Failure of a public utility or other outside electrical power supply
NFPA 7.9.2.3
NFPA 101
CODE COMPLIANCE
The Emergency Lighting System Shall Be Arranged To Provide the Required Illumination Automatically In The Event Of Any Interruption Of Normal Lighting Due To Any Of the Following:
- Manual act(s), including accidental opening of a switch controlling normal lighting facilities
- Opening of a circuit breaker or fuse

- Failures "in the area" of the architectural lights must be considered
- Emergencies aren't just utility power failures!
- There are also jurisdictional requirements for local fire alarm interactions

Manual Acts...
- Does this mean that we can't control emergency lights on an inverter, ever???
- Appendix A7.9.3.2
Where emergency lighting is provided by automatic transfer between normal power service and an emergency generator, it is the intent to prohibit the installation, for any reason, of a single switch that can interrupt both energy sources.
*Phew* We're safe...

Senses:
- Local "Normal" Power Source
- Emergency Power Source
- Local Control Signal From Lighting Control System
- Fire Alarm Signal
The ALCR is a part of every zone that has mixed emergency and normal loads.
Every zone acts independently, even from the emergency power source!

ALCR/ELCDs Allow for More than Switched Lighting Controls
What About Bob Dimming?
ALCR GOAT
- 0-10V
- DALI/EcoSystem
- Phase Control*
*Phase control integration may require a BCELTS for mixed use zones, but ALCR devices can act as a full-emergency-zone override.
There's Confusion on Power Packs, But UL924 Ed. 11 is due 2023 to clarify.
