Background

Standard colors can be limited
We offer the option to custom color many of our architectural produts
Many reasons why this happens
- Branding
- Device color matching

I. CUSTOM COLORS
Architectural Emergency Lights
Architectural lights are simple as they don't impact the usage/visibility of the product
Our custom color options are generally limited to our concealed emergency lights
This is actually very common for us
- You can actually wallpaper theses "Genie" products

I. CUSTOM COLORS
Exit Signs
People don't realize this is an option...
We offer this feature in a number of our products, including:
ISOLITE
FLYING COLORS
Chalk Talk
ELT2
ELT
LPDC
LPDC-HD
LPX
TL2.0
DTH
DTH2
We could do it on the other products if required for a larger job
But exit signs have some caveats with their custom colors

But What About Code?
- Custom color really just refers to the mounting

Die Cast Exit Signs
No issue at all, ever
The custom coloring doesn't change the relationship between the legend and the background
A bit more care has to be taken
The custom coloring does change the relationship between the legend and the background
II. CODE RAMIFICATIONS
Those Pesky Standards...
- The test is run with the lights off!
- The testing is done for the benefit of what happens when there's a power outage
Observational Visibility Tests
All custom color exit signs actually pass this test!
Failed Maintenance Observational Visibility Tests
To account for the fact that many people fail to maintain exit signs, there's a second test

The same as the above test, but the sign is off and the room is lit to a standard level
Dark greens and dark reds are off limits (unless a contrasting legend was used)
II. CODE RAMIFICATIONS
NFPA 101
Every sign required ... shall be located and of such size, distinctive color and design that it is readily visible and shall provide contrast with decorations, interior finish, or other signs. No decorations, furnishing, or equipment that impairs visibility of a sign shall be permitted.

III. WRAP-UP ITEMS
LMIGN
- NiMH battery for EM version (90-minute standard runtime)
- Black added as a standard color
- Recessed backbox is smaller (matches the MIGN2)
We're discontinuing the LMIGN and creating the LMIGN2 in it's place

An email has already gone out, but I wanted to touch on this
Turning this into a new product isn't my favorite way to deal with things like this but we have UL obligations that limit flexibility
Key differences between the product
We are a bit backlogged, we're working on getting product out the door
LMIGN2
