WHY INVERTERS? | October 2025

Isolite

BACKGROUND

Started in 1984 with one product, self-luminous exit signs.

To expand our product offering, we began the design and manufacturing of LED products in 1998.

Since 2010, we've expanded our product offering to include every facet of Life Safety.

In 2011 we established our inverter program and were the first to offer pure sine wave inverters.

Since then, inverter sales have increased steadily. In the last few years the number of inverters orders has jumped tremendously.

What Is An Inverter?

BACKGROUND

An inverter is a device that connects to the power grid of a building between a utility panel and the emergency lights.

When utility power is lost:

When utility power is present:

- It passes AC through itself directly to the specified load(s).

- It charges internal batteries in the form of stored DC power.

- The inverter switches from Utility Power (Charge Mode) to Inverter             Power (Discharge Mode).

- Discharged energy comes from the stored DC power in the                   batteries, which is converted to AC power, allowing the specified           load(s) to remain powered.
