WHY?
Guess What?!
Positive / Feels Good
Negative / Feels Bad
Confirmation
Adjustment
Undermining > Supportive
We want clarity
Language barriers
Communication style
Assume missunderstandings
is not synonymous to sincere
Be explicit, crystal clear requests
Specify what you are looking for andÂ
what you are not looking for
Ask specific questions but
DO NOT PRIME
Be explicit and specific
Good environment
Did they ask?
YES > Give feedback
No > Ask if they want
1 when you see something wrong
2 don't kill a win moment
Assume they already know and have a hard time fixing it
ASK OBVIOUS QUESTIONS
Shouldn't this button be green?
This is the issue I see
Here is my suggestion how to resolve it
Accept mistakes
Say I'm Sorry
Give agency
Show vulnerability
Admit your own mistakes
Individual doubts their accomplishments and has a peristent internalized fear of being exposed as a "FRAUD"
Take a deep breath
Split personal and objective
Split problem and solution
Assess their assumptions
Find someone to give you another opinion
You might not be the right person to receive and answer
You don't have to answer to everyone
But acknowledge it
Infinite and Finite
Finite Games
Known rules, known players, known circumstances, and agreed upon objective, beginning, middle, end > someone wins someone lose.
Infinite Games
Rules are changeable, known and unknown players, new players can join at any time and you don't know anything about them, they can change rules, and the objective is only one, stay as long in the game as possible.
