SHARING FOR LEARNING
A week long expo designed to showcase, promote and educate both staff and learners.
The overall theme will be 'Sharing for Learning' - sharing ideas, best practice and more in the aim of inspiring learners to achieve more and preparing them to get ready for work.
Various companies and guest speakers will be supporting the event by delivering short and sharp workshops with learners.
To conclude the event on Friday 12th February, the College will host a Job Fair open in the morning and a HE/Uni event in the afternoon.
Everybody learns, but the ways in which we learn are changing rapidly.
Organised around key strategic themes, the expo will explore and contribute to building new cultures surrounding teaching, learning and assessment.
We need to introduce learners into the world of work and by holding a conference we can help introduce the concept of self-development to learners but also help to teach them new skills and to motivate them to achieve.
Learners will have to attend a required minimum of three sessions each during the event.
Learners will book onto sessions of choice themselves however tutors and learner mentors can advise on the best sessions to attend.
Bookings will be managed externally by 'EventBrite' - a ticket booking platform; and learners will be required to either print their ticket or add it to their smartphone.
Learner Mentors will support learners to book onto sessions during tutorials alternatively tutors can group book their learners onto certain sessions.
During the expo week all tutorials will be based in the LRC, where learners will complete the online 'Learner Survey'.
The 'Learner Survey' is an internal questionnaire that asks learners for their views and comments on the College.
The 'Learner Survey' is mandatory for all learners to complete.
During the tutorial Learner Mentors are asked to support learners with understanding the questions so that learners can feedback as accurately as possible.
The 'Learner Survey' is located on Moodle and just before the expo week commenced a banner will be added to the homepage to Moodle to redirect all learners to relevant area.
Alongside completing the internal 'Learner Survey' learners will also have to complete the Skills Funding Agency's FE Choices Survey.
The 'Learner Survey' once fully completed will redirect learners automatically to the FE Choices Survey.
