⇜ That's me!
Hello!
Kamila Součková
...cannot be taught.
But here is what I've noticed over the long years...
You are not making a presentation in order to
make a presentation.
You are making a presentation to help you
tell things to your audience.
You have worked hard. This is your chance to show off.
Use it!
Show some enthusiasm :-P
Don't just list facts.
Have a reason for saying the things you say.
the audience.
It's not just a collection of slide-sized rectangles.
You should know why they are ordered like this.
Good structure ⇒ smooth presentation ⇒ happier audience.
Tip: top-down approach: sections ⇢ slides ⇢ content
Recap the story. Not just "we did this" -- how & why.
Tell them what you're going to tell them, tell them, tell them what you've told them.
Your awesome stuff.
State your understanding of the task. Define goals.
Do things for a purpose.
Convey meaning!
The content is what matters. Not your PowerPoint skills ;-)
Tips:
Review what it looks like. Then review it again. Make someone else review it. Then come back after a week and review it again.
Your audience may be unable to tell the difference, but they sure can feel it.
Again:
Do things for a purpose.
Convey meaning!
possibly good uses:
Don't overdo it!
Practice makes perfect.
Projectors suck.
You are not making a presentation in order to
make a presentation.
You are making a presentation to help you
tell things to your audience.
Have fun!
Thank you for your attention.
