"Responsibility to yourself means refusing to let others do your thinking, talking, and naming for you...respect and use your own brains and instincts" (Adrienne Rich, 115)

Responsibility

What are you looking to get out of college?

  • Get to class on time
  • Do the work that is assigned
  • Try to interact with the professors
  • Do not slack off or party everyday

cost

College not only costs you but your parents as well..

  • Getting bad grades can upset your parents and yourself
  • (If you get 1 bad grade, it's nothing to worry over)

  • If you don't think you can handle a certain class, drop it. It's better than taking the "F."
  • If you are paying for your education, get something out of it.

time management

Party, but not too hard

  • If you have homework to do, either don't go at all or go only for a certain amount of time.
  • Homework may not seem like it counts that much, but it adds up. There aren't as many grades in college as there were in high school.

  • Try not to wait till the last minute. It truly isn't your best work. If you do though, try to limit distractions, listen to calm music and just do it!
  • Most importantly however, have fun in college. It doesn't need to be everyday, but you are surrounded by new people. So go out, make friends and enjoy the four years. Make them successful, socially, and educationally.

    Education is Valued

    1. Try to learn material by yourself. Not every professor will lecture everything you need to know.
    2. If you don't put in the effort, why should they.
    3. No matter who is paying think of it this way. The cost of college can buy you a new car every year. Do you want to waste that new car?
