When I was a little kid, around the age of 7, my family wanted to take me and my little sister, Emma, on a camping trip in the woods. We lived in Wisconsin at the time so it was easy to find a quiet spot in the woods.
I was beyond excited to be going camping because I love camping so much!
After we found a good spot we started to unload and set our camper up. Since it was mostly my parents job, Emma and I ran around and explored the forest.
The sky was quickly getting darker and before I knew it I was sitting in front of a fire my dad had built along with a s'more in my hands. My dad decides it would be funny to tell Emma and I a horror story, so he makes something up on the spot. At this moment I didn't know it was made up and thought it was very real.
So he tells us the story about an entity named 'Blizzban', very spooky, I know.
My dad proceeds with telling us that when saying 'Blizzban' three time in a row (much like beetle juice and Bloody Mary) Blizzban will appear and come for you. As a seven year old this terrified me and not to mention we were secluded in the woods with nobody around us.
After my dad finished his story I rushed into our little pop-up camper and hid under a pile of blankets.
My mom reassured me that Blizzban wasn't real, but I didn't believe her.
I started to drift between being awake and sleeping. Right as I was about to fall asleep my dad, who is still outside, pounds on the side of the camper where I'm sleeping. I scream so loud I woke everyone up!
What I learned from this experience (and several other experiences while camping with my dad) is that I should never trust my dad around a fire place!
