The genre of KERRANG! Magazine is rock, punk, metal & post hard-core. It is usually featuring alternative bands such as Bring Me The Horizon, Slash, Metallica & My Chemical Romance. 

Expected to see:

Usually in this magazine, you are likely to see things such as top 20 alternative songs of the week, showing what people have mostly been listening to. This is appealing to the target audience as it would enable them to listen to new music & get up to date with the bands they listen to. It usually tells you what different bands are up to at the moment, including tour dates & photos from recent tours, with their comments on how it all went, favourite moments & worst moments, this is a conventional thing to include in a rock magazine, as it would appeal to the target audience as they would want to see these things, it would also make them want to go to the gigs & would increase the bands popularity. There are comments from last week’s readers, showing a few drawings of artists done by the fans of the band members etc.

This music magazine is an alternative bands magazine. 

Expected to see:

Some new features include the Q Challenge where musicians are given challenging tasks. The first issue features musician James Morrison attempting to earn more than £20 by busking on the streets of Birmingham. Also included is a regular Q Hero feature, which profiles US presidential candidate Barack Obama in the new issue. A Rock 'n' Roll Travel section will show readers how to visit the key music destinations around the world and Alternative Blue Plaques has Q nominating the real sites of national interest. New celebrity focused features include, My Collection where musicians or celebrities talk about their special collections and the Diary Of, a look behind the scenes of a celebrity doing out of the ordinary things. A "must have" section will feature the 10 things you have to see or have each month, from gadgets to viral clips. S There are also new music-focused content including interview feature Cash for Questions, and A Round With, which heads down to the pub with different band each month.

The NME magazine is aimed at the alternative genre, featuring bands such as The Killers, Oasis, The Automatic & My Chemical Romance.

Expected to see:

A typical issue of NME is around 70 pages long and focuses on mainly guitar and rock music; Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Nirvana, The Rolling Stones, The Sex Pistols and many more have all featured in past issues.
The magazine usually starts with a section on “News” which contains some articles and information regarding the recent happenings in the world of music. This is normally followed by interviews and features on specific artists, along with a page for letters from the readers. Further on in NME, there is also a section dedicated to reviews which comments upon new albums, singles and concerts of the week. In addition to this, near the end of the magazine, the pages are filled with adverts for upcoming tours and gigs as well as competitions and a crossword.
