statistical modeling of saps location
What are saps?
SAPS are westward directed flows observed in subauroral ionosphere.
Traditionally, they were expected to occur during geomagnetic storms/disturbances.
Sources:
Separation between ion and electron precipitation boundaries.
Electric fields in the sub-auroral region (Pedersen currents).
