When I first started, I had not used Photoshop at all, so I did not know what to do. After just a few lessons I started to learn it quite quickly and I actually downloaded it at home on a free trial. I have learned how to use Photoshop quite well now and I could probably teach people a few things now which I didn't expect at the start of the year. Ever since the preliminary task I have improved, so tools like the magic wand tool has become much easier than I thought it was at the beginning. It has really helped me and my creativity as I can remove object from an image completely and put them somewhere else.
You can crop things out with this tool and you can extend your pictures also.
Move tool, used to minimise images or move them around the screen, have to hold shift to keep resolution however.
Magic Wand tool, to remove certain parts of an image. My most helpful tool.
Zoom in or out with this.
Spot Healing tool
Rubber - deletes certain bits you drag your mouse over.
Colour Sampler Tool, chooses colour you left click on.
Paint Bucket Tool, colours shapes in/backgrounds etc.
Text Tool, to write.
Shape tool, chooses what shape you want to draw.
I used camera to take my photoshoot pictures and my location pictures. I learned how to use the shutter spped and I learned which distances are used best when using the camera. I also learned about the depth of field and I was allowed to be creative with this when we went into town as there was a christmas tree behind us in one of the pictures. I also revelled in telling people how to position themselves when I was taking my images. This will benefit me in the future when I buy a camera for myself and start finding places to take interesting pictures!
Lighting
I learned about how to use the lighting to the best of its ability. By using lights I was able to get shots of people who were almost glowing, so this allowed me to get creative with some lighting shots, by mixing the blue and red sheets to make a purple background. This will improve my skill development as I know have different images with different coloured backgrounds, which I was able to create.
InDesign
I learned how to use InDesign so I will now be able to get in some experience for writing reports because I want to become a journalist. With using InDesign I know how to properly create a double page spread and use drop caps correctly. At first however I found it very frustrating because I did not know how to re adjust an image once it had been inserted into the double page spread but I eventually improved.
Blogging
Blogging will be hugely beneficial for me because I want to be a journalist, I will need to have a blog and know how to keep in interesting and working and now thanks to media it will now be possible. I used a lot of creative websites to improve my blogging which I will definitely use in the future. Some of these websites are:
Without the internet I would have not even got close to finishing, let alone starting it because otherwise I don't know where I would of got my inspiration from.
