Social Groups

We have used Attack the Block as inspiration for our teen film, choosing to clothe our gang members similarly to the main characters in Attack the Block. Mise en scene reveals  the main choice of clothing in Attack the block are bandanas and hoodies, we have implemented these props into our teen film to represent a particular social group. Representing young people who are involved in gangs and are stereotypically known to be violent  and aggressive. Also our characters are most likely to have poor grammar and of a working class background.

Representations: Positive or Negative?

The representations we have including in our teen film are predominately negative because of the gang members aim to be intimidating and show characteristics of a true gangster, which are being aggressive and heartless. However in the beginning of our film the female student may bring a positive light over the film for a short while, represented as an innocent young lady travelling to college and is dressed considerably smart meaning she could be educated and of a middle class background.
