Why Have I Chosen To Give Up Social Media?

Why Have I Chosen To Give Up Social Media?

For my A2 documentary I really wanted to challenge myself hence why I opted for the participatory mode option of a documentary. I wanted to target a big issue that is relatable to my generation.

A big subject with my generation is social media, the number of users are growing everyday which makes you realise how popular it is. A lot of people my age are affected by things on social media that can cause stress and lead to anxiety.

However quite a few people are not affected by things on social media, although some of these people are likely to have an addiction to social media - up to the point where it takes over people's lives.

People use social media to pretend to be who they're not

People use social media for all kinds of uses from ranting about experiences - to wishing your Grandma a happy birthday

I wanted to know what it would be like to get rid of all this...to get away from all the hate and abuse...to lose contact with my friends...to be cut off from a part of the world that keeps evolving and adapting.

I want to find out what life will be like if I just gave it up for a month, to find out for myself if its a good change for the better or a waste of time.

Thats why I'm going social media free for a month :)
