Audience feedback was essential in the process of finalising the finishing touches to my music video. I presented my first draft to a focus group of people I considered my target audience, I asked them to comment on speed/tempo, cinematography/lighting and narrative. I received mixed reviews. Half the group believed my cuts were too slow, 'some shots were out of beat'. My group felt that the cinematography was fine however they believed the narrative was far too vague for them to understand what the video was about, 'I don't really see what point the video is trying to make'. I also received comments to include more text, to liven up certain scenes that were fast paced. After the focus group I felt that I would need to go out and do another shoot in order to get better scenes for a stronger narrative in the music video.
Going back into post production I amended off beat cuts and sped up certain clips to keep in pace with the tempo, I felt this paid off as the video felt much more responsive than my first draft. Re-shooting enabled me to film scenes that had much more of a purpose as before. Filming the dispute gave the video a meaning and engaged the viewer into what was going on screen. I then applied text to parts of the video to change it up so that it didn't get too repetitive, I then also added black borders to give the video a more professional look. After finalising I took my updated video back to the same focus group. They found that the video felt much more in tune to the music and that the narrative was clear and easy to understand, 'It's much easier to understand now'. The audience feedback was extremely beneficial to me as I wouldn't have thought to have made some of the changes that were apparent.
