Multimedia & Design Workshop

for Panel Presentations

Final Reading Notes Comment -

When focusing on our readings this week, what was a direct quote or piece of advice given about professionalism related to Genre or the best way to handle giving a presentation about your research or topics? How do you deliver effective presentations?

CompCON!, is a series of panel presentations where YOU as a student share, interact, and perform for your audience (instructor, fellow classmates, visitors) connected to the research you've done this semester on your discourse community project. This is your chance to show off your project in a variety of ways during your scheduled panel - you will receive credit based on level of participation, Q&A, interactive components, and audience members will take notes and engage as well. This is the week where YOU get to highlight your project in style!

Purpose & Function

  • During your panel, be prepared for the following:
    • Have your Ipad, Laptop, or other device ready to show off data visuals, visual evidence, and materials you've made for your project.
    • Prepare a handout, promotional material, or advertisement for your discourse community.
    • Be prepared for Q&A with attendees.
    • Have an interactive component with the attendees: e.g.  code to scan for info or survey, demonstration, etc.)
    • Bring in Physical Artifacts - Poster/materials your discourse community uses, physical items to show n'tell.

  • On the days you do NOT present, each day you will engage in meaningful interaction with your peers and for the purpose of submitting the CompCon! Self-Assessment and Interaction assignment:
    • Be respectful and engaged with your classmate's panel, materials, demonstrations, or other content.
    • These are like mini-showcases with discussion, show n' tell and interactive elements.
    • Be prepared to ask questions during Q&A to help you in writing up your interactive/assessment reflection.
