Tatra Mountains

In the high Tatra Mountains located in Slovakian, Hikers discovered a lake on which you can walk on! However, They are not walking on water... They are walking on ice. This crystal clear ice is so clear, you can see the lakes floor. But what makes it do this? Why is it that not every lake has crystal clear topping? Do its surroundings have anything to do with it?  How does the climate effect aquatic animals and lake waters?

Salinity and temperature:

During the winter time a increase in ice is made resulting in creation of salinity. However, in the summer, the warmer climates create a slight decrease in salinity but the lower levels of the water stay cool or the aquatic animals.
