Edit text with AI

Slides AI can rewrite the contents of a text block while preserving its structure and formatting. It works with blocks that combine headings, paragraphs, lists, and inline formatting, making it useful for refining a complete section of copy at once.

Open Edit with AI

Select or hover over a text block in the editor. The AI button appears near the lower-right corner of the block.

Click the AI button, or press Cmd+Shift+I on macOS or Ctrl+Shift+I on Windows and Linux, to open Edit with AI.

Choose an editing action

The menu provides several ways to transform the selected block:

  • Give me three options creates three alternative versions of the text.
  • Improve writing refines the copy while keeping a similar length.
  • Fix spelling & grammar corrects writing mistakes without intentionally changing the message.
  • Shorten makes the text more concise.
  • Elaborate adds a little more detail.
  • Use a casual tone or Use a professional tone adjusts how the text sounds.
  • Translate to rewrites the block in the language you select.

Choose an action and wait for Slides to generate one or more suggestions. Select the suggestion you want to replace the existing block content.

The AI menu shows your current AI credit usage. Each request uses AI credits, and you cannot create another suggestion after reaching your available limit until credits renew or more are added.

To translate an entire presentation into a separate, editable copy, use presentation translation instead.
