Web Hate: When you are offended or threathened by persons that are unknown to you. Often instigated by a public announcement/post/comment.

To slander somebody online and in person is illegal. In Sweden we call this "kränka någons ära". It goes beyond a tease or simple name calling.
This is punishable by hefty fines
and jail sentences

How you act online will have consequences IRL.
Science shows that distance from the person we are communicating with makes us less compassionate. That applies to all kinds of situations where we can't make eye-contact with the person we are speaking to.
Before the Internet, when we got frustrated, we posted an angry letter to our local news paper. Then it was reviewed by the papers editor before it was published. Today, when we post stuff online we have to be our own editors and make sure we don't break any laws or offend people. We have to be responsible.

We can talk to people who lend support anonymously without having to reveal our name
Report without retribution
We can report suspicious or criminal activity anonymously and not have to worry that we will be

Speak out! - Show moral courage and speak out if you see somebody being slandered online

Contact the person who posted something mean and ask them to retract their post.
Contact the responsible social media site and ask for the content to be removed.
