What is Peyronie’s Disease?

Peyronie’s disease is a scarring condition beneath the skin of the penis that leads to a curved erection, and can make sexual intercourse difficult and painful.  Peyronie’s is more common in men with a history of low testosterone, vascular disease, or a history of pelvic surgery including radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer.  

Symptoms

Peyronie's disease signs and symptoms might appear suddenly or develop gradually. The most common signs and symptoms include:

  • Scar tissue.
  • A significant bend to the penis.
  • Erection problems.
  • Shortening of the penis.
  • Pain.
